But now they are comprised of various blends of materials, all designed to give them a better looking design. There are also better grades of wool that can be used which are superior to those in other parts of the world.

A good example would be any type of wool that comes from countries such as Persia or Turkey. This wool is known for being very rich and velvety, it is a very fine quality used with hand knotted carpets. Some of these carpets are also made of silk; the silk comes from a variety of sources as well.

You need to understand the process of making these types of carpets can be extremely strenuous not to mention long. Everything is usually done very labor asleep before the final pieces put together. If wool is the primary material being used to create the carpet then the sheets are usually washed before the wool is cut off of them. The wool is then washed again before is turned into yarn. If the material is comprised of silk the silk fiber is first turned into yarn and then it is dyed into a certain color.

What about the quality of hand knotted rugs?

A lot of this is going to depend on the density of the rug, depending on the number of knots per square inch the more superior the quality of the hand knotted plugs. The rule to go buy would be the denser the carpet the more durable it probably is, they also generally have more detailed patterns in them.

You can also get hand knotted carpets in many different types of patterns and designs. A lot of this is going to depend on who is making the carpet. If you decide to get them with the Middle Eastern theme of patterns will be very extravagant and pleasing. If you get them from other parts of the world the designs may not be as aesthetically pleasing. But either way it goes the designs are very nice to look at and you should not be disappointed with them at all. Hand knotted carpets are not for walking on for the most part, they are typically used as decorations in a home if anything else.
